Indiana - Harrison County - Harrison County State Forest
1928: "Probably the outstanding feature of the year's work has been the extension of forest fire protection in southern Indiana. A temporary wooden tower has been built at the Harrison County State Forest near Wyandotte Cave. Harrison and Crawford counties have been organized by a District Forester into a well defined fire protection district." (Annual Report - Indiana Department of Conservation - 1928)
February 18, 1932: "Two thousand six hundred acres of woodland in Scott and Spencer townships, Harrison county, were acquired this week by the state in its reforestation program. Employes of the state conservation department are posting the land and selecting a suitable site for a fire tower. A temporary wood tower, sixty feet high and twelve feet square at the base, soon will be erected. It will be replaced later by one of steel." (The Indianapolis News)
