LITTLE MOUNTAIN
Baraga County
January 28, 1921: "H.J. Keopp of Marquette, state district forest fire warden, was in L'Anse and inspected Little Mountain near Knauf's camp with the expectations of locating a fire tower there.
The tower will be of steel and will be sixty-five feet high and will be located on Sec. 19, T.50, R.33, three miles south of L'Anse giving the watcher a clear view of this territory for many miles, with the tower to be erected on Froberg hill, Baraga township, there will be no reason why the forest fire should rage in this section. Mr. Koepp stated that had the fires last fall been discovered in time $25,000 worth of timber would have been saved and $8,000 of the taxpayers money not expended in fighting that blaze."
