CORBIN MOUNTAIN

May 27, 1932: "A tower is under way on Corbin mountain in Henderson county, on the state line and also will cost about $700. A road approximately three miles long is being built to this tower and will cost about $300 to complete. South Carolina is sharing the cost of the towers in Transylvania and Henderson counties, according to W.K. Beichler, in charge of districts 1 and 2, of the department." (Asheville Citizen-Times)
1932: A 35-foot steel tower with inside stairway and enclosed glass cab was erected. The tower was purchased by the South Carolina Forestry Commission, the costs of transportation, material for foundations and erection being borne by North Carolina. The county in which was placed assisted financially in its purchase and construction. (Department of Conservation and Development - 4th Biennial Report 1930-32)
