April 6, 1942: "Fire lookout stations in southern and central New Hampshire today were being manned, the Forestry department reported, in anticipation of spring fires.

June 26, 1952: "A forest fire lookout was found dead in his locked cabin atop this 2,400-foot mountain this morning.
A spokesman for the State Forestry Department identified the man as Frank E. Teare, 60, of Milan.
Unable to raise the lookout by telephone, members of a television antenna crew on the mountain's peak broke into the cabin, the spokesman said." (The Portsmouth Herald)
August 8, 1957: "Michael Hackett is spending the week as the guest of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Yeaton, on Belknap Mountain, Gilford. Mr. Yeaton is the fire lookout for the state of New Hampshire." (Nashua Telegraph)
