July 18, 1921: "Tower No. 2 will be located near Chickaree schoolhouse, Jackson twp. on property of the Vinton Colliery Company. This tower will cover portions of Cambria and Indiana counties and will afford needed protection to forest lands particularly subject to fires." (Indiana Evening Gazette)
August 5, 1921: "Work on Tower No. 2, near Chickaree, started today." (Lebanon Daily News)
June 7, 1926: "The Chickaree Fire Tower, located near the William Penn Highway, about two miles west of Mundy's Corner, in the Gallitzin District, protecting 150,000 acres of our forest in Indiana, Cambria, Westmoreland and Blair Counties, with Arthur G. Buterbaugh, of Wehrum, Pa., as Towerman, closed this week for this season after one of the greatest fire seasons of the Tower's history, but the fires were reported promptly and with splendid work of the local wardens the fires were quickly extinguished.
The Chickaree Tower was visited in the two months by one thousand people, 793 visitors for the month of may,which shows that the people of our state and other states have a great interest in the protection of our forests." (Indiana Evening Gazette)
July 30, 1930: "Chickaree fire tower, which is located in Jackson township, Cambria county, about a mile from the William Penn highway, will be moved to a position near Clymer this week, according to an announcement by T. I. Shirey, forester of the Gallitzin district. The Chickaree district hereafter will be taken care of from the Pindleton tower, recently erected. The new location of the tower, which has served the northern portion of the Cambria county since 1921, is 1,700 feet above sea level and is on a piece of ground donated by Hiram Swank Sons about a quarter of a mile from Clymer."
