1919: "The location of the Moose River Mountain Station has been changed from its old location on the highway from McKeever to Port Leyden to a hill between Fulton Chain and Big Otter Lake, from which a far better view is obtainable." (9th Annual Report of the Conservation Commission)
1919: The 47-foot Aermotor tower was moved from the Moose River Lookout site. The new site provides a much better view. Staffed into the mid-1970's.

October 29, 1963: "Charles B. Stevens, 81, retired New York State Conservation Department fire observer, died Monday morning in Faxton Hospital, Utica, after a short illness.
Mr. Stevens, a native of Whitesboro, came to this area in 1909. He served 18 years as fire observer at the Moose River Conservation tower, retiring in 1961." (The Post-Standard)
