1922: A 60 foot steel tower was erected about one mile north of Belle Plain, Cape May County. This station was established from State funds and opened for service April 1. (Annual Report - Department of Conservation and Development, 1922-23)
September 13, 1925: "William Seidel, of Plainfield. division fire warden. visited the Belle Plain fire tower recently." (Atlantic City Sunday Press the Sunday Gazette)
December 20, 1926: "The fire tower at Belleplain has closed up for the winter months." (Press of Atlantic City)
February 15, 1966: "Notice is hereby given that sealed bids will be received in the Reception Room of the Office of the Director, Division of Purchase and Property. 2nd floor, Room 232-2, State House. Trenton, New Jersey 06625, on March 3, 1966 at 2:00 P.M. and will be opened and read immediately thereafter, for the following:
RELOCATE & ERECT EXISTING FIRE TOWER
