OAKWOOD
South Carolina - Aiken County - South Carolina Forestry Commission
November 13, 1936: "Mr. Joiner gave figures to show that, in spite of the severe drought during the past year or so, there has been a marked decrease in number and extent of forest fires. This he attributes to the extra fire towers that have been built and the extra efforts that have been made.
It was brought to the attention of the group listening that the fire tower at Oakwood also serve as a Red Cross First Aid Station, and that plans are being made to place another First Aid Station at Monetta." (Aiken Standard and Review)
