KENTUCKY LOOKOUTS
PINNACLE MOUNTAIN
Bell County
December 7, 1934: "In line with this whole fire prevention system, The CCC also will erect a fire tower on the tallest point of the Henry Ford farm which is now owned by the University. From this point, fires can readily spotted on the south side of Cumberland mountain for many miles into Virginia.
The fire break trail should become a popular asset for Pinnacle mountain, in that it will provide easy hiking for visitors to the mountain. The trail will pass the points where two batteries were located some distance from the Pinnacle, up the mountain in the direction of Devil's Garden." (Middlesboro Daily News)
