GREEN HILL
Somerset County
July 13, 1934: "Construction of four more forestry towers on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, bringing the total to nine, will make it possible for almost any forest fire on the shore to be exactly spotted by location and cross lining thru two or more towers according to N.H. Fritz, District Forester.
One of the towers will be constructed in Somerset county at Green Hill, between Westover and Pocomoke."
And...
"The survey of the site for the first forest fire watch tower to be located in Somerset county has been completed by Assistant State Forester Walter J. Quick, Jr., and District Forester Nelson H. Fritz, and active work on same will begin at an early date. Mr. Fritz is in charge of Forest District No. III, which includes the Somerset area.
The Somerset tower will be located centrally at Green Hill, on the Westover-Pocomoke City State highway, near the farm of Mr. Joe Seigrist.
The tower will be 130 feet tall, of angle steel construction, and an extensive forest area will be under observation, connecting the Wicomico and Westcester county towers in a unified protective system against the ravages of forest conflagrations." (Worcester Democrat and the Ledger-Enterprise)

February 15, 1935: "The new 120 foot forest fire tower located at Greenhill in Somerset County will be an added advantage to the residents in the lower part of Worcester County, inasmuch as it will add to the detection facilities of the county." (Worcester Democrat and the Ledger-Enterprise)
