FLORIDA LOOKOUTS
WRIGHTS CREEK
Holmes County
May 30, 1950: "District Forester J. Edwin Moore, of Panama City, announced this week that a contract has been let for the construction of a Florida Forest Service lookout tower at Wright's Creek north of Bonifay, with construction slated to start immediately.
A second tower is expected to be erected before July 1, giving Holmes county two lookout stations from which forest fires will be detected.
The towers will be equipped with two-way radio for rapid communication with fire-fighting trucks and ranger headquarters.
Active forest fire suppression will start shortly after July 1." (Panama City News-Herald)
