October 21, 1912: "According to reports received from Observer William Halloran at the Fire Signal Station on Fay Mountain yesterday the rain only stopped the progress to a small extent of the many forest fires raging here and in the surrounding towns." (The Boston Globe)
November 3, 1913: "The Fire signal tower on Fay Mountain, in charge of lookout John Giblin, has been closed for the season." (The Boston Globe)
October 28, 1914: "The fire signal tower on Fay Mountain, together with all the other towers in the state, closed yesterday for the season, as the appropriation is used up. The lookouts, John Giblin and Michael E. Lyons, reported 385 fires during the season." (The Boston Globe)
March 9, 1915: "The State Forestry Department has appointed Michael E. Lyons lookout at the fire signal station on Fay Mountain for the coming season." (The Boston Daily Globe)
March 15, 1915: "The lookout at the fire signal station at Fay Mountain yesterday reported 10 grass and brush fires." (The Boston Daily Globe)
March 25, 1915: "Lookout Michael E. Lyons at the Fire Signal Station, Fay Mountain, yesterday reported 25 fires." (The Boston Daily Globe)
March 28, 1915: "A new 60-foot fire-signal station is to be erected on Fay Mountain to replace the present 30-foot tower. Fay Mountain has been found to be one of the best lookout stations in the state. The new tower is to be erected under direction of State Deputy Fire Warden John P. Crowe of Westboro." April 22, 1915: "Michael E. Lyons, the lookout at the fire signal station on Fay Mountain reported 20 fires in neighboring towns." (The Boston Daily Globe)
May 9, 1915: "There is under construction this week on Fay Mountain a new 71-foot firee signal station to replace the old 30-foot tower that has done good work the past three years. The surrounding towns have contributed to the construction of the tower. It will be equipped with stairs instead of a steep ladder. State Deputy Fire Warden John P. Crowe of this town has charge of the work. The tower when completed will be one of the highest and finest in the state." (The Boston Daily Globe)
March 4, 1916: "District Deputy Fire Warden John P. Crowe, his assistant, John Giblin, Michael E. Lyons inspected the fire signal station on Fay Mountain yesterday." (The Boston Globe)
April 29, 1918: "John Roche, fire signal man on Fay Mountain, reported 10 fires yesterday in all sections of the district, covering a radius of 23 miles. When he left the tower last evening fires were burning in Medway, Holliston, Hudson, Auburn, Shrewsbury and Worcester. During the afternoon Chief Crowe and six Westboro firemen went to Uxbridge to help check a forest fire." (The Boston Globe)
