April 4, 1937: "A slight fire starting on the Blue Ridge opposite Round Hill invaded Loudoun County on Friday last, and burned over all of two acres of mountain land on the Loudoun side. The loss has caused no little indignation in Loudoun no time has been lost by the Forest Warden over there in placing a watchman in the fire tower on Short Hill Mountain, south of Hillsboro. Hirst H. Potts is the new fire tower watchman. Perched 120 feet in the air, Potts should be able to scan a wide expanse of mountain, and get the first glimpse of a blaze when it starts."
