July 12, 1972: "Word was received this week that the Roseland fire tower will be moved to Palm Bay in Brevard County where it will become part of the Orlando District of the Florida Forestry Service.
The 80 foot tower which stands on property leased by the state will expire its 25 year lease in two years. By then the other forestry station equipment will be moved over to Donald MacDonald State Park site adjacent to the fire tower on Roseland Road. But it won't include a fire tower which is no longer needed in that area according to ranger Leo Artman." (The Orlando Sentinel)

July 19, 1972: "When the Roseland Fire Tower is moved along with the forest ranger's trailer and other forestry equipment, the biggest problem for the ranger's wife and daughter will be leaving the wild animal friends they have acquired during the past years.
The Roseland Forestry Station received it's eviction notice recently from the owner of the land who gave the state a 25-year lease some 23 years ago and now wants the land back.
The 80 foot tower is used as an observation post to spot forest fires and make cross readings with the Vero Beach and Yeehaw stations.
'We won't need it anymore,' says Ranger Leo Artman. 'We can get a cross reading from the others. The remaining forestry equipment and ranger's home will be moved next door to Donald MacDonald state property. 'We think the tower will be moved by helicopter as an Army training exercise,' Artman said." (The Orlando Sentinel)
November 8, 1972: "Forest Ranger Fred Hauhn said Tuesday, the forestry tower in Roseland has been shut down and he has moved his family to Vero Beach where he was transferred. The state decided to discontinue usage of the Roseland tower earlier this year when the owner of the property refused to renew the 20 year lease to the state.
'We can get sufficient cross readings for fires from the remaining towers in Vero and Yeehaw Junction,' Hauhn said, and we expect the Forestry Service to increase its operation or move the Roseland tower to the Palm Bay area." (The Orlando Sentinel)
