August 15, 1934: "Another new tower is nearing completion in Pike County, land having been purchased from W. L. Armentrout to be used in making a road to the new structure." (Chillicothe Gazette)
October 3, 1934: "Receipt of a new steel fire tower for erection on the lands of W. L. Armentrout in South-eastern Pike county, was announced today by B. E. Leete, associate state forester.
Foundations are already in and the tower will be erected immediately to increase the forest protection of south-eastern Pike county and north-eastern Scioto county. Supt. C. S. Elicker of Camp Stoney Creek has been superintending the building of a road to the tower and foreman C. W. Smith of Camp Pike will direct the work of CCC boys in erecting the tower."
