July 10, 1936: "During October and November, 1935, the enrollees worked on two initial projects--one the building of a road within the camp area; the other a look-out house foundation near Bears Head fire lookout tower on the Broad Mountain near Delano." (Mauch Chunk Times-News)
November 12, 1941: "Pennsylvania's only woman fire tower keeper is Mrs. Warren Creasy, Mahanoy City housewife and mother of four sons of conscription age.
Mrs. Creasy keeps a lonely vigil in a small cabin, perched on a swaying tower 85 feet from the top of Bears Head mountain, six miles east of Mahanoy City. From her 6 1/2-foot square 'office' she has guarded state forests from fire hazards since 1927." (The Salt Lake Tribune -Utah)
