FOUR MILE HILL
Pennsylvania - Clearfield County
An unimproved bald top observation point established prior to 1918. (Report of the Department of Forestry, December 31, 1917)
September 15, 1920: "By the erection of a forest fire observation tower at the Penfield state forest this week, the Pennsylvania Department of Forestry has given the Clearfield county timber lands additional protection. State Forester William F. Dague, of Clearfield, supervised the construction of the new tower on Four-Mile Hill, along the Clearfield and Penfield road. The tower commands a wide view of the surrounding country and will be of great assistance in detecting forest fires in that district." (Clearfield Progress)
