September 14, 1921: "An observation tower, 47 feet high will be erected this fall by the state three miles north of Glen Campbell in this county on the property of Walter Sherwin. This is one of five towers erected in this district to safe guard the state forest against fires and all have been located to obtain the best view of woodland and forested areas. All towers will be connected by telephone." (The Indiana Progress)
October 11, 1921: "With the completion of the Glen Campbell fire tower this week, it is the plan to have all the fire towers manned by towermen by October 15th." Walter Sherwin was appointed towerman at Glen Campbell fire tower. (Indiana Evening Gazette)
March 30, 1922: "Walter Sherwin will be watchman or towerman on the Glen Campbell fire tower, which has been placed in operation. If you are in the neighborhood of the tower you should visit the place, climb the tower and get a magnificent view of the surrounding country." (Indiana Weekly Messenger)
October 7, 1925: "The Glen Campbell fire lookout tower will be manned by Fire Warden Walter Sherwin of Glen Campbell." (Indiana Evening Gazette)
