WADLEIGH MOUNTAIN
Piscataquis County - Maine Forestry District
December 17, 1926: "Commissioner Neil L. Violette announced yesterday that a crew under the supervision of Chief Warden Frank P. Conley of the Moosehead Lakes region commenced this week the hauling of steel and other material for the construction of the new 36 foot steel lookout tower on Wadleigh Mountain.
Up to within the last few days there has not been enough snow in the woods to permit of this work, the lateness of the winter preventing activities which were to have been started some time ago. The actual construction work.. ..will not be started until the early part of spring." (Daily Kennebec Journal)
