September 11, 1950: "With the statutory fire season opening Oct. 15, Raleigh County may get a new fire tower, it was revealed today by F. O. Frazier, District Forest Protector.
Frazier, who heads District Six, said a five-man crew is now working on the tower and it should be finished by the time the season opens. It will be located on Wriston Knob..
This will bring the county's total to four, since towers are now located at Tams Mountain, Ivy Knob, and Round Knob. There are 14 towers throughout district six." (Raleigh Register)

September 2, 1951: "A new fire tower and observer's cabin on Wriston Knob in Marsh Fork District has been completed, yesterday. It will be manned at the beginning of the fall fire season Oct. 15.
The site was named in honor of County Forest Protector E.N. Wriston, of Scarbro, the State Conservation Commission's oldest man in point of service. The installation was built under supervision of F.O. Frazier, of Prosperity, the commission's construction superintendent." (The Raleigh Register)
July 22, 1959: "The Wriston Knob fire tower will get a complete overhaul, it was announced following a meeting of the Forestry Division of the Conservation Commission Tuesday.
The Wriston Knob tower is located in the western part of Raleigh County near Pettus." (The Raleigh Register)
