KEARSARGE MOUNTAIN (Pequawket)
New Hampshire - Carroll County - White Mountain National Forest
November 29, 1948: "A helicopter has been hired by the U.S Forest service to transport 27,000 pounds of building materials to Mt. Pequawket's summit.
Without the machine, the material would have to be carried by men, each limited tp approximately 50 pounds per trip, 3,000 feet up the rugged White Mountain peak.
The material will be used to build a lookout tower on the mountain top two miles north of here." (North Conway) (Freeport Journal-Standard)
