Sam's Hill
New Hampshire - Cheshire County
July 6, 1939: "Earlier in the week of June 25 several automobile loads of workmen were busy in this section on hurricane work, cleaning up inflammable material where it seemed most to endanger destruction by chance fire. We understand the road to the top of Sam's Hill has been completed, and that the work to establish a fire lookout tower there is going on a pace. The road starts from the main highway near Sam Smith's (Sam's Hill was not named for this Sam, but many years ago, before Mr. Smith lived in this locality)." (Springfield Register)
