PENN FOREST

1920: "A new wooden tower, erected by the State's employees during the winter, was opened for service on the Penn Forest in March, 1920, making a badly needed and very valuable point of control in the heart of the eastern Burlington County wilderness." 1922: "Considerable work was done on the Penn Forest to improve the public roads on the area so that there might be readier access to the property. The telephone line to this forest was seriously damaged by the spring fires was partly rebuilt and made more serviceable, and damage by lightning to the fire lookout tower was repaired."
