May 16, 1923: "Through the co-operation of the Cummer - Diggins Lumber company, a forest fire fighting crew of 20 men has been organized at logging camp No. 33 in Antiock township. October 11, 1928: "A new 102 ft. enclosed tower has been erected to take the place of the old 62 ft. open tower known as the Selma tower, which is located near the center of Wexford county and is about 10 miles northwest of Cadillac. The added height will allow the towerman to better cross shot with the Harrietta and Grand Traverse county towers of this district, and to cooperate with the Moreydale tower of District 11 and the Evart tower of District 13." October 29, 1931: "Removal of the Selma fire tower to Osceola county on one of the highest points in the lower peninsula, has been completed under direction of Edward Thalman, Traverse City fire warden. It is now located 1,728 feet above the sea level." (Record-Eagle)

November 5, 1931: "Work is progressing at moving the Selma state fire tower to the highest point in the lower peninsula. This point is on a farm owned by Mrs. Grace Locke and is located in Sherman township, about three miles straight north from Dighton.
This new location is 1,728 feet above sea level. From this point a fine view is obtained of many distant points, including Reed City, the two large lakes at Cadillac and many other more distant points.
Edward Thalman of Traverse City is supervising the work of moving the tower and erecting it at the new location." (Osceola County Herald)
