December 28, 1942: "F.M. (Tedd) Joy, manager of the Tennessee Coal, Iron & Railroad Company's land department and vice president of the Tennessee Land Company, will retire under the United States Steel Corporation retirement plan on December 31. Robert Gregg, T.C.I. president, announced today. Succeeding Mr. Joy as manager of the land department will be John M. Glasgow, present assistant manager.
The retiring executive is widely known for his interest and activity in conservation, wildlife and sportsmen's affairs. He twice served as president of the Alabama Wildlife Federation, and is now director in both the national and state federations. In recognition of the services he has rendered the cause of conservation, a forest fire lookout tower on Rock Mountain in Jefferson County was named for him." (The Anniston Star)
