February 1935: The Civilian Conservation Corps constructed a 99-foot 9-inch steel tower and a 2-room ground house for a cost of $2,122.57. The funding was covered by the Emergency Conservation Works program. (Department of Conservation and Development - 6th Biennial Report 1934-36)
November 3, 1939: [CCC] "31' x 25', 4-room frame house at Shallotte tower in Brunswick County; completed November 3, 1939 by Camp P-73." (Department of Conservation and Development - 8th Biennial Report - 1940)
