MICHIGAN LOOKOUTS
NESTOR
Roscommon County
July 11, 1943: "No--this is not a recommendation for a new substitute for beef. It's the story of a porcupine whose hunger, curiosity or both led him into trouble. A Michigan release tells us that Amos Gilbert, towerman at Nestor tower in Roscommon County, was naturally mystified to see a salmon can moving uncertainly through the grass. Investigation showed that the can contained the head of a porcupine still affixed to a live and active body. The amused towerman 'uncanned' the porky and sent it on its way."
