March 29, 1945: "Arch Blue, observer at the Conservation Department's Fort Noble Mountain fire tower in the Adirondacks has found a way to keep porcupine from eating his synthetic car tires. He built a miniature electric fence, complete with storage battery, and merely strings it round his coupe when he leaves it parked in porky pastures." (Adirondack Record-Elizabethtown Post)
