February 16, 1956: "Close liaison is maintained with representatives of the State and Federal Forest Services in the Choccolocco Corridor and with the State of Alabama fire tower at Jacksonville and the Anniston Ordinance Depot fire tower.
The AOD fire tower exercises surveillance over the Fort McClellan area and would give an immediate alert if a forest fire should start. Radio equipped vehicles are available for use in controlling fires, and units at Fort McClellan provide the personnel for fire fighting. The 100th Chemical Group, Chemical Corps Training Command, is the fire alert unit for the Fort." (Anniston Star)
