April 26, 1935: "A forest fire that raged for about an hour and a half on the North Mountain, two miles west of Trevorton, yesterday destroyed three acres of valuable timberland.
The fire was discovered by Isaac Frye, Trevorton fire tower lookout, who immediately notified the Steinhart firefighting crew of Trevorton, the crew immediately hurried to the scene and subdued the blaze.
It is believed the fire was started by a spark from a railroad locomotive which passed a few minutes before the blaze was noticed." (Shamokin News-Dispatch)
