HENRYVILLE
Indiana - Clark County - Clark County State Forest
July 19, 1930: "Every one is invited to visit the fire tower which overlooks the counties of Clark, Floyd, Washington and Scott. The fire tower was erected on the highest knob in the forest and has an elevation of 1,080 feet.
From this tower at the Clark county state forest, the warden protects 100,000 acres of forests. In the fall and spring months, when the leaves are dry, the observer notifies the warden by telephone when and where a forest fire starts. In a few minutes an organized crew is on the scene and the fire is extinguished." (The Kokomo Tribune)

June 8, 1989: "The death of a 17-year-old Salem resident who fell from an old fire tower appears to be an accident, state police said Wednesday.
Troy Gray was pronounced dead Monday night at Washington County Hospital after falling from a 40-foot tower in the Clark State Forest.
Gray was taken to the hospital by friends who were with him at the time of the accident.
Officials said there was no reason to suspect the death was anything but an accident, although state police said officers were continuing to question witnesses." (Kokomo Tribune)
