TRI-COUNTY
Pennsylvania - Blair County
March 19, 1931: "Harry H. Chamberlin of Duncansville, forestry Inspector for the state department of forests and waters, with the assistance of state police, is investigating the entering and robbing of the cabin at the tri-county fire tower on Tussey mountain between Martinsburg and Saxton, which was broken into and robbed several days ago.
The cabin is occupied during the forest fire season by the towerman but during the winter months is unoccupied. While making an inspection several days ago. It was found that it had been broken into and considerable damage was done to the building and approximately $50 worth of goods taken. Damage to the structure was estimated at $25 and resulted when an attempt was made to jimmy the lock on the door. Unsuccessful in gaining entry by the door, the covering was ripped from the window and the glass broken and the place was then entered through the window.
Trace of the loot is said to have been uncovered by Mr. Chamberlin and the officers assisting him in investigating the affair and it is expected that sufficient evidence to warrant arrests being made will be found within a day or two. Mr. Chamberlin's son is towerman and the cabin was last occupied by him several weeks ago." (The Altoona Mirror)
