July 21, 1922: "C.C. Delavan of the State forestry department is in the northern part of the State on an inspection trip. He is visiting all the lookout towers and the patrolmen on the trails in Essex county in company with P.H. Teachout, district forester at St Johnsbury. After this work is completed, they will go to Stone Mountain in Guildhall to take preliminary steps toward the erection of a new lookout tower to be constructed next month." August 7, 1922: "The forestry department is active in other matters, Construction has been started on two fire towers and cabins in Essex county, one on Stone mountain in Guildhall to be built new. The new tower will permit the observance of heavily timbered country not visible from any other tower. District Forester P.H. Teachout is in direct charge of the work." June 1938: "Began construction of new lookout cabin, log leanto shelter, fireplaces, and tables. Moved old cabin for use as wood storage. Moved telephone from camp to tower. Installed new map stand with alidade and map." (Report of the Department of Conservation and Development, term ending June 30, 1938)
1947 - 1948: "Underground metallic line trail brushed and painted." (Biennial Report of the Vermont Forest Service)
October 7, 1948: "Mr. and Mrs. Ira Daniels and family have returned home after spending the summer at Stone Mt. where Mr. Daniels is employed at the Fire Tower." (Essex County Herald)
1949 - 1950: "Buried telephone line, spotted and painted. Tower phone converted to dial system. One mile of grounded circuit line constructed. One mile of metallic line constructed. Camp interior painted and floor varnished. Replaced tower ventilator with weatherproof cap." (Biennial Report of the Vermont Forest Service)
1951 - 1952: "Camp, woodshed, toilet and leanto stained." (Biennial Report of the Vermont Forest Service)
1953 - 1954: "Shifted 3,000 feet of telephone line to Public Service poles. Relocated 33 poles due to road construction. Tower stairs and landings painted." (Biennial Report of the Vermont Forest Service)
1957 - 1958: "Commercial telephone facilities were extended from Guildhall through Granby to the radar station on East Mountain. The lines passed within a mile of Stone Mountain station at which point we were able to make a connection to the fire tower line and discontinue and salvage three miles of pole line." May 13, 1971: "Miss Pamela Wells, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wyvis Wells, started her new job working for the Parks and Forest for the State of Vermont. She is stationed on Stone Mt. in the town of Guildhall, Vermont. She will be in charge of the fire tower." (News and Citizen)
