November 13, 1950: From a list of observation towers in Hillsborough County: "Brown tower at Bullfrog Creek on Road 41. Laura Leavine, towerwoman." (The Tampa Tribune)
April 14, 1956: "Brown Fire Control Tower has a new tower operator and a new assistant ranger, County Ranger Phillip McLeod said yesterday.
The county ranger said Frank Beasley, a native of Wimauma, will be the new assistant ranger and his wife, Sylvia, will operate the tower and water for those ever-dangerous forest fires.
The Beasley couple are taking the place of Lee Brannon and his wife who were transferred to Sarasota County. Brown Tower is located on U.S. 301 south of Riverview." (The Tampa Tribune)
October 17, 1972: "Brown Tower northeast of Ruskin is identical to the four other towers in Hillsborough County. The towers were built in 1937." (The Tampa Times)
September 11, 2009: An invitation to bid on the removal of the tower was issued. Bid opening to be held on October 8, 2009. (no award was made.)
March 31, 2010: An invitation to bid for the removal of the 80-foot steel tower was issued. Bid opening scheduled for April 28, 2010.
April 2010: The tower sold for $860.00 at auction.
