Maryland - Frederick County
March 22, 1935: "Frederick county will have a new fire tower this spring, the state having authorized the building of a 100-foot, all steel structure at Salamander Rock, the northwest boundary of the Frederick city watershed.
Material for the tower has been delivered and work is due to start at once, under a force from the CCC camp. The site is felt to be an excellent one for the fire tower, with one of the best elevations in the county." (News - Frederick)

April 4, 1935: "Mr. Maxwell explained that the State Forestry Department was planning to dismantle the present Hamburg tower and erect a new fire tower there. Final decision was made to erect the 100-foot tower on the city watershed property south of Salamander Rock. However, the state must own the property before it will erect a tower and the aldermen were asked to deed about an acre to the state, which was done. The state will maintain the tower."
