PITCHER MOUNTAIN
New Hampshire - Cheshire County
1915-16 biennium: A new lookout station was constructed. (State of New Hampshire: Biennial Report of the Forestry Commission for the years 1915-1916)
October 17, 1950: "The fire control tower atop Pitcher Mountain is being wired for two-way radio.
State forestry official Richard Diel said the station will go into operation next spring. It will be part of a southern New Hampshire system which links Mt. Kearsarge, Federal Hill and Warner Hill to Concord headquarters. A northern section is to be built up in subsequent years and tied into the system, Diel said.
Second hand equipment is to be used for Pitcher Mountain. Police in cities have converted to another band, which makes their old equipment available for second hand use, Diel explained." (The Brattleboro Reformer)
February 2015: Advertisement for bids published for "cab replacement, structural steel reinforcement, guy cable attachments, painting of the tower, concrete footing replacement, construction of new hand railings and miscellaneous repairs." (Concrete Bid Network)
