July 26, 1922: "After breakfast the next morning we hiked to the top of Broad Top mountain and visited the Greenwood fire tower. This mountain top is 2,500 feet above sea level. The tower is eighty feet high, built of steel and has a watch box on top. We all climbed all the steps of the watch box. From this tower one can see in all directions for a distance of sixty miles."
