October 18, 1961: "The new forest fire lookout tower erected by the Mississippi Forestry Commission on the road between Wilmot and the Swiftwater Church, has been completed and the little glass-windower cabin established on top with a swing-up trapdoor. It will be used during fire season, November-March, to spot fires throughout Washington County. It is not recommended for sightseers, however -- the new lumber in the stairs and cabin has attracted a swarm of wasps, which are particularly thick around the cabin." (The Delta Democrat)
