March 25, 1927: "State Forester Lufburrow has not announced his plans in making these beauty spots more attractive to the public and a greater asset to Georgia, but it is supposed he will make trails leading from Neel Gap to the crest of Blood mountain, construct a permanent lookout to replace the wooden platform." April 17, 1927: "A graded trail connecting the two acres of land at the extreme top of Blood mountain, and about one and a half miles west of Neel gap, is planned by the state forester to offer his cooperation in the construction of a modern look-out tower and station on Blood mountain, which will give a most excellent controlling point for the protection of the newly acquired national forest lands at the head of the Chattahoochee river." February 25, 1930: "B. M. Lufburrow, state forester and chairman of the American Legion's committee to direct a campaign for a $10,000 World War memorial fire tower on Blood Mountain, Monday announced the opening of the campaign.
The first contribution, he said, was from the women's auxillary unit of the Quitman post." (The Atlanta Constitution)
