July 26, 1932: "At 2 o'clock there will be guided field trips to parts of the forest to observer plantations, pruning operations, weeding and thinning. The Saxon Hill fire lookout tower will be demonstrations of fire tools and planting tools." (Rutland Daily Herald)

1953 - 1954: "Painted camp outside and inside. Stair treads painted. Painted inside of tower cab." (Biennial Report of the Vermont Forest Service)
1967 - 1968: "In the 1920's. the village of Essex Junction built a lookout cabin on Saxon Hill overlooking the Village Forest. The Department of Forests and Parks under 10 VSA 1492, has manned the station. In June 1967 the cabin was struck by lightning and burned. A house trailer was moved to the foot of the mountain and provided temporary quarters while the village was building a new cabin." (Biennial Report of the Department of Forests and Parks)
October 3, 1968: "Since protection is an integral part of forest management the group climbed to the top of Saxon Hill and the fire tower which is manned by Mr. and Mrs. Rod Williams of Morrisville." (The Burlington Free Press)
