Available facilities include picnic areas, bathhouse, custodian's house, picnic and barbecue grounds, group camp for under-privileged children, trails, roads, and three lakes. February 20, 1938: "When the Paris mountain forestry fire tower now under construction is completed, it will mean another step toward completion of the far-reaching forestry program undertaken in the county two years ago. The tower will be finished within a few weeks.
The Paris mountain tower will be the third in this area and all of the towers will be connected by telephone lines for the reporting of fires throughout the section. Fourteen miles of telephone lines have been installed recently and about 72 miles remain to be constructed. This will be in addition to the 60 or 70 miles of lines put up several years ago by the Caeser's Head Forest Protective association and all of the lines will be connected.
The tower on Paris mountain will be 80 feet high, situated on the northeast corner of the mountain. A temporary caretaker's house will be built within the next few months and later a rock house will be erected for housing the persons who will have charge of the fire tower there.
H. L. McCarson, connected with the forestry service, is foreman in charge of construction of the Paris mountain tower, which is 12 miles from Greenville. H. C. Muckenfuss is project superintendent.
The work is being done by CCC enrollees from the Paris Mountain CCC camp. The CCC youths have constructed a new road two miles from the road through the Paris Mountain State Park to the tower site and the road will be ready for travel by the public within a short time." (The Greenville News)
1938-39: "Tower unit buildings consisting of a four room dwelling, barn, smokehouse, chicken house and latrine were constructed at six tower sites, namely: Paris Mountain in Greenville County." (Report of the State Commission of Forestry, 7/1/1938 - 6/30/1939)
