BOLTON MOUNTAIN
Vermont - Chittenden County
September 7, 1921: "The tower which Mr. Dunsmoor of Burlington has been building at the top of Bolton mountain one and one-half miles from Dunsmoor Lodge, is 30 feet high and the mountain 3,600. The scenery is delightful." (The Burlington Free Press)
January 11, 1922: "The report of the trails and shelters committee was made by E.E. Smith, who reported as the big accomplishment of the last year the erection of a steel tower on the top of Bolton mountain. This was a steel windmill tower and was donated by C.D. Ordway. The work was in charge of, and largely done by Ralph Dunsmoor. It affords one of finest views in the mountains, where formerly there was no view on account of the height of the trees. The cost of erecting this tower was assumed partly by the State club, by the Burlington section of the Green Mountain club, by the State forestry department and by several private donations." (Montpelier Evening Argus)
July 26, 1922: "Ralph Dunsmoor of Burlington section, who, with his friends, dragged to the summit of Bolton Mountain the materials for a steel observation tower, 40 feet tall, which raises one above the trees and gives a wide view." (Morrisville Messenger)
