DORSET PEAK

1921: "A cabin was built on Dorset Mountain in the town of Danby and the material prepared for constructing a tower." (11th Biennial Report of the Agricultural Commissioner)
June 24, 1922: "State Forester W. G. Hastings has returned from Rutland, after a visit to the fire lookout station on Danby Dorset Peak. He made the trip with C.C. Delavan, in charge of fire prevention for the State forestry department. Some work is still needed to complete the station." (The Burlington Free Press)
October 28, 1925: "A special all-day auto hike will be made Saturday by a delegation of Rutland scouts to Dorset Peak on the edge of the town of Danby, for the purpose of repairing the fire tower and fire observer's cabin at that place. W.E. Bradder of the federal forestry service and R.N. Berry, the county scout executive, will accompany the party." (Rutland Daily Herald)
