August 1, 2018: "A plan to clearcut 16 acres of White Pine and Loblolly Pine trees, which are obstructing the view from an 80-foot tall fire lookout tower in Bass River Township, and replace them with short growing trees, is poised for passage next week by the Pinelands Commission.
Bass River Mayor Deborah Buzby-Cope said on Monday that the township received notification that the commission's executive director, Nancy Wittenberg, is recommending the commission approve the plan during its scheduled July 13 meeting.
The New jersey Forest Fire Service (NJDEP), filed a complete application with the commission for the project on May 8." (The Pinelands Commission)
