November 11, 1912: "Lookout stations for the forest fire protection service in Allegany county have been established on St. John's Rock and Dan's Mountain, near Frostburg, two elevations from which a view of the mountain forests can be obtained for many miles in all directions. The local patrolmen is G.M. Mayer. Among those appointed as wardens are: Barton, Stephen Llewellyn; Midland, D.C. Llewellyn.
It is the duty of the patrolman to inform the nearest warden in event of fire and the wardens are empowered to make arrests, back fire, destroy property--if necessary to stay the flames, and to employ assistance." (Evening Times)
