August 30, 1935: "Considerable landscaping work around Wolf lake fire tower has been accomplished during the past week, the old truck trail to the tower has been replaced by a double gravel road, the ditches have been cobblestoned, a parking lot constructed at the base of the tower, and the top of the knoll has been sodded. Young pines will be transplanted, and the entire area adjacent to the tower will be made the beauty spot that the view from the hill and tower deserve." (C.C.C. June 6, 1941: "Wolf Lake fire tower, north of Baldwin, is one of the highest steel fire towers in Michigan. Caberfae, near Cadillac, is the tallest wooden tower." (Lake County Star)
August 28, 1941: "Two way radio communication sets have been installed in conservation officers' cars in district No. 13, with headquarters at Baldwin, and a remote control station is being built at Wolf lake fire tower north of Baldwin. The system was put into operation recently as an experiment and proved its worth when five violators were picked up and fined $324.65 for killing a deer." (Osceola County Herald)
