SEVEN MILE HILL
Iosco County
July 25, 1935: "While towerman James Furtaw of Seven Mile Hill tower, Iosco refuge, Michigan, was peering over the tree-tops for signs of smoke, a deer of the kind nature students would go miles to see, walked into an opening below the tower.
Chancing to glance toward a visitor who was climbing the tower for a view of the surrounding country, Furtaw found himself looking at an albino deer.
The incident was reported at once to Ed Millard, keeper of the Iosco refuge. With a camera and carload of visitors Millard drove at once to the tower. Although unable to obtain a picture or identify the sex of the deer, the visitor witnessed a sight of rare beauty as the pure white deer crossed the road ahead of them and disappeared into the brush beyond."
