KOSCIUSKO
Attala County - Mississippi Forest Service
December 20, 1948: "The first forest fire danger rating station to be erected in Central Mississippi is being built at the Kosciusko lookout tower by the Mississippi Forestry Commission.
Attala county fire fighting crews are constructing the station under supervision of Ralph R. Robertson district forester. When completed, the station will provide tower personnel a means of determining the daily fire danger by measuring wind velocity and humidity. Readings were previously received from Newton and Calhoun counties." (Clarion-Ledger)
