OMER
Arenac County
January 17, 1936: "An 85-foot steel lookout tower near Prescott had recently been dismantled by a CCC enrollee crew from Camp Molasses River, who transported the materials 12 miles to a new location three miles north of Omer, and re-erected the tower, according to the December report of Guy H. Greens, chief foreman of the camp.
Following the erection of the tower, the enrollees under the direction of doreman Lester Linam of the Michigan Emergency Conservation Work supervisory staff completed the task by running a telephone line from Omer to the tower. The only difficulty experienced was in excavating for the tower footings and setting telephone poles at the north end of the job, due to heavy outcroppings of rock." (Clare County Cleaver)
