SECOND MOUNTAIN
Pennsylvania - Mifflin/Juniata Counties - Rothrock State Forest
May 21, 1920: "A new wooden fire tower has been erected on the Rothrock State Forest by John A. Bastian, the forester in charge. He has notified the Pennsylvania Department of Forestry that the tower is on the summit of Second Mountain, about one-eighth of a mile from Weitzel Road in Granville Township along the Mifflin and Juniata county line.
The new fire observation tower is about forty feet high, affording a splendid view of the entire country in that vicinity. Persons who desire to reach the tower are instructed by Forester Bastian to follow Weitzel Road to the top of the mountain, and there take the trail westward on the mountain top." (Mount Union Times)
